The Charleston House, or “The House” as it has lovingly been called, opened in 2013 to instant success at 1733 Norton St – on the city’s border. Now revived in 2022 with a brand new location – We’re bringing that same great southern hospitality to the heartbeat
of Downtown Rochester – East Avenue.

Charleston House On The East carries a Carolina atmosphere with a vibe that captures the taste of Classic Southern Destinations like Bourbon Street, The Louisiana French Quarter, and more!
We boast a menu unlike any other in Rochester; containing a variety of tastes and remixes of cultural favorites; or “Southern Fusion” as we like to call it. Our Charleston Wings, A Best-Seller, are marinated and fried to perfection with a blend of the Caribbean and southern spices; and our Louisiana clams take linguini and clam sauce straight from “Naw’leans” to kick things up a notch!
Occasionally you’ll see a few dishes pop on the menu that simply dazzles & that you won’t find anywhere else.
We offer “Ox-Tail Tots”: slow-cooked, oven braised oxtails rolled in panko and marinated goat; with curry and white truffle finish just for starters.
The overall atmosphere is very laid back, and eccentric – offering an experience that will keep you coming back. We are a unique Garden Level Bar & Restaurant with an Outdoor Terrace where you can discreetly unwind over drinks and good weather. Indoor/Outdoor Fireplace settings to set the mood & Occasional Live Events to keep you entertained. Good Music? Always.
